Helping Athletes Recover, Perform, and Stay Active

By Dr Lisa McCoog

Whether you’re a competitive athlete, weekend warrior, golfer, runner, tennis player, pickleball enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys staying active, injuries and physical limitations can interfere with the activities you love. At Lighthouse Acupuncture & Wellness Center, we help active individuals recover from injuries, reduce pain, improve performance, and get back to doing what they enjoy most.

Sports medicine acupuncture focuses on the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries related to physical activity. While many people associate sports medicine with professional athletes, it benefits anyone who exercises regularly or experiences pain related to movement. Common conditions we see include tendonitis, rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, plantar fasciitis, runner’s knee, low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, knee injuries, and sports-related overuse conditions.

Acupuncture has become an increasingly popular part of sports medicine because it works with the body’s natural healing processes. By improving circulation, reducing inflammation, relaxing tight muscles, and helping regulate pain signals, acupuncture can support recovery and improve overall function. Many patients find that treatment not only helps reduce discomfort but also improves mobility, flexibility, and recovery between workouts, competitions, and other physical activities.

At Lighthouse Acupuncture & Wellness Center, we frequently work with patients experiencing shoulder injuries, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, repetitive stress injuries, muscle strains, and back or neck pain. Whether the issue developed from a recent injury, repetitive motion, or years of wear and tear, our goal is to help patients heal while addressing the underlying factors contributing to their discomfort. Rather than simply masking symptoms, we focus on helping the body recover and function more efficiently.
